Who Are We?

Who are we and what is Community Presbyterian Church all about? We say a lot of different things about ourselves and hear much more that others say about us ... it can become confusing! Therefore, we need to definitively state our purpose, mission, and vision so that you can know the essential identity of our church family. Take the time to familiarize yourself with the following.

Our Identity as Community Church

Purpose Statement:

the "why" we exist as a church family

TO GLORIFY AND ENJOY GOD

That may sound simple, but this is exactly why we exist as a church family. Many of us have had past church experiences that tell us we must jump through many hoops in order to truly glorify God. Yet the Gospel teaches us that it is actually our need of, dependence on, and reliance upon Christ that best glorifies God. We come as those who are terribly thirsty and need to be refreshed. Christ is that ever-flowing source of living water that alone can satisfy our dry and parched hearts. Thus, as we drink of Him and thoroughly enjoy Him, He is most glorified.

Mission Statement:

the "what" we’re supposed to do as a church family

TO SEE GOD'S LOVE AND GRACE SO DEEPLY ROOTED IN THE LIVES OF HIS PEOPLE THAT GENUINE COVENANT COMMUNITY IS CULTIVATED AND THE OVERFLOW OF THIS IS SEEN IN MISSIONAL ACTION TOWARD THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND WORLD

In this mission statement are three realms where we believe God has called us to make a significant impact:

  • changed individuals - "see God's love and grace deeply rooted in the lives of His people"
  • changed church - "genuine covenant community is cultivated"
  • changed community/world - "missional action"

This is an impossible task for man, but our hope is not in ourselves but rather in the power of the Gospel.

Thus, our...

Vision Statement:

the "how" we will carry out our purpose and mission

TO PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL TO OUR HEARTS, OUR HOME, AND THE HOPELESS

The Gospel is our only hope and power, and what a power it is ... it is the power of God for salvation!
