Chances are all of us struggle with the idea of submitting to authority. Whether it's the authority of the church, the state, parents, teachers, coaches, etc. we wrestle with this concept and often find ways to "justify" our lack of submission. This week's lesson from 1 Peter 2:13-17 examines God's call on us to submit to human government ... what it means and why we should do it. Prayerfully read this text prior to Sunday and come prepared for God to perhaps challenge you in this area of submission.
This Sunday will also provide an opportunity for us to give thanks to God in a special way for the many ladies who make Community Presbyterian Church such a special and unique church family. Men will be serving in all the ministry positions this Sunday (children, youth, etc. ... with the exception of bed babies) and our women will be invited to a Sunday School class designed especially for them. It's a simple thing, but it's one way we as a church need to honor those who so faithfully serve us week after week. Come and join us in giving God thanks for our women!
And speaking of women, there is a small group of ladies who have been tasked with determining what sort of womens ministry is needed here at Community. Please be in prayer for this group and be prepared to give them input when you're called upon to do so.
