Twas the Sunday Before Christmas

Whether we're ready or not, Christmas is almost here!  The previous several weeks have been a blur ... they've passed by far too quickly.

With only a few days remaining before Christmas is upon us, let me remind you to not waste this precious time.  And by that I don't just mean finish your shopping, make all your meal plans, and do that last minute decorating you've been putting off.  Rather I mean that we must daily think upon, ponder, study, reflect, be amazed by, savor, and enjoy Jesus Christ; let's not allow Christmas to come and go without us taking the time to sit with our families and discuss the incredible miracle of the Incarnation;  let's be sure to spend time in God's Word and with God's people beholding the glory of Son of God who became flesh and then lived the life we should have lived and died the death we should have died and rose from the dead to give us eternal life.

On this last Sunday of Advent we'll light the candle of the Angels.  And in our study of God's Word we'll actually be looking at the message given to Mary by the angel Gabriel.  Please read Luke 1:26-45 as you prepare for this Sunday's worship.

Also, be sure and come to the Christmas Eve Candlelight service - Dec 24 at 5:30 pm.  For many of us, this service is one of CPC's best yearly events.  In this year's service we will again examine what it means to walk in the light.  Read 1 John 1:5-10 in preparation for this service.

And invite a friend to come with you to Sunday morning worship or the Christmas Eve service.  They might say "no" but unless we invite them we guaranteed a "no" from them.  I'm praying for you that as you extend this invitation to others, their "no" would become a "yes."  God can, does, and will change hearts!
