It's About Time

We have many, many sayings about time - things such as:

  • "time is of the essence"
  • "time flies"
  • "time heals all wounds"
  • "the time has come"
  • "don't waste your time"
  • "time is an illusion"
  • "I don't have time"
  • "time stood still"
  • "time management"
  • "it takes time"
  • "only time will tell"
  • "let's make time"
  • "there's plenty of time"
  • "there's not enough time"
  • "what time is it?"
  • "do you have time?"
  • "time out"
  • etc

Obviously this list could go on and on.  It just confirms that time and our use of time is constantly on our minds and in our conversations.  We simply can't avoid the concept of time.

This Sunday at Community we will tackle the most familiar of passages from Ecclesiastes ... chapter 3.  The first eight verses are the most famous;

"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; ...."

Regarding the topic of time, Solomon has some important things to say that we need to hear.   He will remind us that time moves on, that time brings great change, that God is in control of all time, and that God works out His plan in His time.

Also, we will come together as a family to the Lord's Table to enjoy His abundant grace.  Take some time between now and Sunday to prepare your heart for this meal ... ask the Lord to show you your sin and to remind you of the stunning forgiveness that He extends to us in His Son, Jesus Christ.
